Alder Ridge

Alder Ridge Vineyard is located in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA within the Columbia Valley AVA. It is 15 miles west of the small town of Paterson, along the Columbia River in Southeast Washington, bordering Oregon. It is a sprawling 800‐acre vineyard set atop a series of dry, sparsely vegetated ridges with elevations that range between 450 to 950 feet above the Columbia River.

The Corus Brands of Alder Ridge & Battle Creek are under the guidance of Stan Baty, whose father was part of Associated Vintners, the group that founded Columbia Winery, the first winery in Washington State, in 1962. Alder Ridge lies along the Columbia River in the Horse Heaven Hills appellation of Columbia Valley in eastern Washington. Winemaker Rob Chowanietz makes a Cabernet Sauvignon from a blend of Bordeaux varietals grown on the Alder Ridge estate.

Naturally bounded on the North by the Yakima Valley appellation and on the South by the Columbia River, Horse Heaven Hills was officially designated as an AVA in 2005. It’s proximity to the Columbia River and a distinctive topography moderate the extreme temperatures of the area and provide steep, south‐facing slopes for quick‐draining, loamy soils.
