John's Blend Cabernet Sauvignon

With over 30 years of experience in the wine business John Glaetzer has cut a path to excellence by following the path that lead him to greatness all along; the constant pursuit of excellence in each step of the winemaking process. His keen eye, deft palate and understanding of his terroir crowned him the "Baron of Barossa" and Wolf Blass' right hand man. From 1974-1976, Glaetzer won three consecutive Jimmy Watson trophies as Wolf Blass' senior winemaker, a feat few could consider an no one can boast other than Glaetzer.

As a testimonial to his passion for winemaking, Glaetzer (with the help of his wife Margarete) started his own label, John's Blend in 1974 as well. First released in 1977, John's Blend was instantly recognized as one of the shining stars of the Australian Cabernet community. Always dark, ripe and intense with very soft tannins (a hallmark of Glaetzer's) John's Blend Cabernet continues to be collected by connoisseurs today. If not enough, in 1995 Glaetzer started a Shiraz as an ode to his wife called, John's Blend "Margaete's Shiraz".

Today, Glaetzer continues to win awards with over 3000 wine accolades to his credit and his fourth Jimmy Watson trophy awarded to him in 1999.
